Day 57 – Service and Syracuse

We got up like any other day (slowly, grumpily and against our better judgment).

It was pouring by the time we left the house and started our trek toward Cumbaratza. We were supposed to have Marisol’s study (which we had to move because we have the assembly Sunday). Unfortunately, she was not there, uuuurrrrggg. We were soaked, but Erik suggested as long as we were there we should climb a little farther up the hill and check on my new study Eliza (we normally do her at 2pm). Seeing that folks here view schedules like they view the loch ness monster (they’ve heard of it but don’t believe in it) we figured we should at least see if she could study early. It was good with her and we studied the part in the Appendix about the “spirit”. She did excellent and we reviewed the whole section about the “soul” and the “spirit” and she captured the point. Truth is clear, isn’t it? We were content because we had walked 30 minutes to get there and it was raining perros y gatos. Soaked from our knees down (Leah from her waist down cuz her umbrella is smaller-don’t judge-I had to protect the backpack filled with our books:-} but really content.

We walked a few minutes into town to do a rv and stopped by the store to get tomatoes and eggs. It is my new favorite store because the lady who works there is sarcastic and has a really good sense of humor. It totally caught me off guard. We walked the 30 minutes back home-just in time for it to start pouring once again. Yes, yes we know…it’s the rain forest! We get it! We aren’t complaining we’re just sharing.

We got close to home and stopped to see Sabina, our neighbor, who just got back from her farm (la finca). She is the girl we wrote about a month ago who studied 4 times in one week. Her brother was an unbaptized publisher who was murdered a couple of years ago. We set her next study up for this Tuesday.

We got home and Ryan had made lunch (past and rice). After that we did some reading and writing and studying and watching the Syracuse v Connecticut game (taped) on ESPN3 and then the Syracuse v Cincy game live. I was happy to watch the games because I know Leah really enjoys it and it is a good opportunity to bond. Sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do. If you believe that let me tell you about the loch ness monster…
