Day 93 – Service and more service.

We met for service and I worked with Elsa (of course). Erik went with Hermano Condado on a study. Today the service group tripled within the first hour of service – people kept appearing. But we finished the “flat” territory, which meant, climbing the “cerro” (cuesta en Ecuador, very steep hill in English). There are steps cut into the mountain. I would love to have taken a pic but everyone leads me to believe I will get mugged if I carry my camera/take pics in the ministry. Elsa and I had a few nice conversations with older gentlemen. While we were already half way up the mountain she went to check on her study set up for 5 o’clock. We finished up the morning and got home around 12:30.

Erik prepared his talk a little; we prepared the WT, caught up on the blog and visited with the brother that gives Ian his studies. He told us he’s never known personally a witness from another country. At the international 2 years ago he saw & greeted friends but this was the first “conversation”-he’s 28. Erik had a meeting with the brothers from Albion on Skype, ate quickly and it was time to go with Elsa on her study (back up the cerro). It was with a couple, Betty and Rafael. They have an eight year old daughter, Denise, who has Down syndrome and she is a bit of a handful. I tried to keep her occupied so they could study the Daniel 9 prophecy about the appearance of the Messiah. I did ok-we read some out of the great teacher book and then kicked around the soccer ball.  Their 16 year old son (who Elsa also studies with) came home toward the end of the study and listened in. At 7 we went down to meet a brother who was gonna take Erik on a study. We waited til 7:30 but were feeling a bit like “sitting gringo ducks” and it was getting dark so we headed home. As Elsa was calling the brother’s wife we saw him on the bus going by outside and flagged him down. Erik went with Jorge and got home around 9:30. I was a bit concerned but the brother brought him home in one piece. We had a snack of quesadillas and fruit and went to bed. Erik didn’t have the energy to work on his talk.
