Day 28 - Mudslide (or should I say buttslide)

View from the house on the hill
So if you remember the picture from last Thursday of Erik walking up to the house on the hill & I stayed down because of the muddy, difficult conditions (and my sheer lack of coordination). Well, picture it this week after 6 straight days of rain.  Bad news – treacherous conditions today. Good news – the woman is older and really can’t leave so she’s always home. Erik slipped a little right in front of her house at the top but caught himself with his hands (as it was like a mud wrestling pit).  And of course I say to him when we r almost at the bottom – “Wow, that’s amazing we didn’t fall” Which right after I thought, “why did you just say that when you haven’t reached the bottom yet?” – sure enough, down I slid, but I fell backwards, so "just" the underside of my skirt was full of mud and these little burdock things for the rest of the morning (very comfy).

Good thing Erik cleaned our shoes – I guess we know what he’ll be doing Monday. Cleaning your shoes here is like washing your car in the winter when you live in New York.

6:00 Meeting: Erik had the local needs about young people making themselves honorable vessels to be used by Jehovah. Shawn was announced as a regular pioneer – how nice his family was here for the announcement.

Elmer & Monica Ordonez-they are the couple that lives at the corner where we meet for service.
They raise cuy (pronounced kwee) which are guinea pigs. Ecuadorians eat them-that's one we haven't tried yet.
Tatiana and her dad Segundo Combicos (he comes in service with us a lot).

We didn't know what to say for this one -
we figured we'd let you decide -
you can send us your clever
(and nice) captions!

It's a good thing our dining room table doubles as a
ping pong table because there was plenty of room
for both games on either side of the net

Came home – the girls (and Erik) played Sequence while the boys (and Keila) played poker….and Jim….
