Day 36 - Carneval starts!

Shawn and Robin made delicious pancakes with homemade syrup and bananas for bfast. Really good with peanut butter on top too! (Thanks mom)

Veronica, Shawn, Ryan & Robin finished the puzzle today. (Keila will be happy)

Erik went out to sit in the sun because it is a beautiful day (but really hot and sunny, maybe 90? There’s no thermometer and you can’t really get the weather for Cumbaratza). In 15 minutes with 45 sunblock on he got pretty scorched so I made him go in the shade. The sun here is super strong (yeah I know we r at the equator).

This is a pretty butterfly that was in the yard, but he didn't
cooperate with me very well when I tried to take his pic.
There's tons of beautiful butterflies and birds here.
We thought we could at least go and do studies but everyone says it’s a no because of carneval. Stinky, but oh well. That’s life (at least here). You can look it it up on Wikepedia but basically here the people just try to dump water (or any other liquid) on you if you're in the street. It's kinda' obnoxious.

Jim & Robin and the boys went to the pool in the afternoon and almost immediately the sky clouded up and a storm started to roll in.

Skyped with Lluvia & the Bruchhausers.

Erik & I made pasta carbonara for dinner minus the bacon. Sometimes you have to improvise - you can't just run to Wegmans!
The boys ended the night with a friendly game of poker (It’s always friendly when you're playing with buttons).
Erik is watching one of Ryan's movies - it's a Discovery video about army ants. Just what Leah wants to think about just before going to sleep in the rain forest-Army Ants. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

As you can see it was a very hectic day.
